FAQ
Q: I tried to use the Preview option but I can't hear anything!
A: Make sure that your speakers are correctly connected to your sound card or motherboard and if they are, try turning the volume up a bit.
Q: All I can hear when using the Preview option or playing the encoded file is noise!
A: Look at the known issues for this problem.
Q: I've selected Average Bitrate (or the OGG Vorbis encoder) but when I play the file, my player reports the file's bitrate a lot higher!
A: This is because players are designed to detect only Fixed Bitrate and not Average. Don't worry, the file was encoded with the average bitrate you selected.
Q: I get an error that I don't have the *.DLL/*.OCX file installed or that my *.DLL/*.OCX is outdated or not correctly registered! What should I do?
A: It seems that you don't have the right Visual Basic 6 runtime libraries and/or components. You can view more info at the included article in this help file, named "Required Runtime Components" under the troubleshooting section.
Q: I double click on the OGG/FLAC file but no program seems to play it!
A: I recommend downloading and using VLC Media Player or Foobar2000, which natively supports most widely used formats, including OGG and FLAC.
Q: Selecting any of the pre-setup profiles does not change the Audio Channels or Sample Rate settings!
A: The Audio Channels and Sample Rate settings are advanced settings, which should not be used by people who don't know what they're for. The pre-setup profiles are there for people new to audio encoding, so they do not alter any Audio Channel or Sample Rate settings.
The reason that profiles do not reset them to default, is that when a person alters these settings, should not have them reset each time they change a profile.
Q: Not all options are available when using encoders other than L.A.M.E!
A: This is due to the fact that the other encoders do not have all the features the L.A.M.E. does. If you want to use a specific feature, try using another encoder.
